In the music video, Mason plays the role of an actor while Gomez plays his stalker. The video begins with a handcuffed Selena Gomez writhing around on a bed, donning an engagement ring, a wig and black silk robe. Shots of marked maps and an image collage of Mason on a wall are then shown. Gomez later breaks into Mason's modern penthouse apartment with the intention of fulfilling a sexual fantasy of him.On arrival, Gomez takes off her robe and wears only spiked stilettos and black lingerie consisting of a bra and high-waisted underwear.She searches through his colour-coordinated closet and tries on one of his dress shirts. Dancing in the shirt, Gomez proceeds to smelling his cologne bottle.
Gomez is then depicted writhing around on his bed caressing herself as she imagines a love scene with Mason. In another segment, she is shown taking a hot bath, imagining him in a shower. Gomez also watches a marathon of movies in which Mason stars in.Tired, she proceeds back upstairs wrapped in a bed sheet where one of Mason's film posters titled The Obsession is shown at the staircase wall. Gomez then passes out on his bed. Mason later arrives home and realises that something is wrong and calls the police who arrest Gomez.In a plot twist, the video ends zooming out from the preceding events, showing Gomez and Mason happily cuddling on a couch watching a film called Hands to Myself in which they starred.
This is one of the first shots in the music video, this represents Selena Gomez's character's obsession with this mystery man. The vast array of pictures of him makes us believe she is more than obsessed, she may even be stalking him. A over exaggeration of your everyday fan.
This shot is around the minute mark within the video, it shows Selena inside of Mason's house in her underwear walking around his walk in wardrobe. You can see by her outfit, the black colours and the amount of showing skin that she maybe is rather promiscuous and has a lot of fantasies about Mason.
In this shot we see Mason, Selena's fantasy, Selena is watching one of his movies while she is lying on his coach. Mason is obviously centre frame because he is the main person involved within the scene of the movie and also the music video. It may not be a coincidence that he is shirtless, this resembles Selena's Fantasy of being with a HollyWood Movie star.
The shot here is in the middle of the video, its a visual depiction of Selena's desires of being intimate with Mason. The music video really works on the lyrics of the song and the tension building lines.
This is an important shot in the video, Selena is walking up the staircase and the camera flips round and faces this movie poster titled 'the obsession' this is a visual reminder that Selena is obsessed with this movie star (Mason) rather ironically placed on the wall by the staircase. This was obviously done on purpose because it is to add further proof about Selena's dying obsession for Mason. The colours are dark yet the title is in red which stands out along with his white/grey face in the poster.
We see Mason arriving at his home, realising something isn't right, he makes his way upstairs after coming across a piece of clothing. The stairway is lit up in Blue LED's, this may be a signal that there is somebody upstairs, of course it may just be coincidental but maybe the producers implemented it into the shot to add more depth.
The next two shots show us that Selena is going to get caught for trespassing and breaking and entering. We see two police cars pull up outside of the house front entrance, Sirens and lights on in dramatic fashion. Surely this is the end of the road in terms of Selena's little plan.
This is the closing moments of the video, what's interesting is that it seems to have been a movie within a movie, with Selena getting into the cop car the camera lens pans out and the frame widens and we see a flat screen TV appear and then we realise that maybe what we were seeing throughout the whole video was a movie sequence after all.
In the final shot of the video we see Mason and Gomez on the coach together. The music video led us to believe one thing when really something else completely different is going on. Looks like Selena got her fantasy after all.
Lukas Graham's song "7 Years" is a song written about his life so far and what he hopes to achieve in the future. He said that the reason the lyrics go as far as the age of 60 is because his father died at 61 and he needed to "pass it to believe it." He continued: "It's a song about growing older. I'm also coming to a realisation that being a father is the most important thing. Lukas said hi biggest dream is not to be some negative old dude, but to have his own kids and his friends say, 'You're going to visit your dad? Say hi! He's awesome. Lukas believes he had a perfect father. The music video is set and filmed in Lukas's home town Freetown Christiania. To give you a bit of background information about Christiania, it is a little area in Denmark's capital city. Christiania is what known as a free town in which drugs can legally be sold and the laws are made by the people and the police can't stop anything.
The first shot is of Lukas himself. He's sitting down in what looks to be an old church. You can see the spotlight shining on him, the spotlight could possibly represent that there is hope no matter where you grow up, no matter how rich or poor. Lukas however is shown to be isolated inside, his head down, writing his thoughts down, making them into song lyrics. Combed with the light, this could show that he is driven and that nothing can stop him. The falling paper could also be a metaphor of his thoughts and/or past lyrics. The music video has a consistent theme of black and white which is quite stereotypical in lots of music videos to represent the past, sorrow etc. A low angle shot is the perfect in depicting perspective of the issues that our raised in this video. This particular shot shows the run down wooden balcony with Lukas and his friends staring down. The blurred camera may symbolise the blurred vision and reality that the kids have when growing up in the community.
The video shows us racial diversity within the community, this shot could represent the difference between when Lukas was younger and now. This makes the music video more relatable to younger kids as well as showing the variety within the community. The shallow depth of field could also be symbolic to the boys perspective and outlook. Maybe the boy is oblivious to how his decisions could affect his future. The fact that they are both singing shows that they have some common grounds.
The symmetry in this shot could resemble how Lukas's determination and drive brought him happiness and a sense of accomplishment, which others from around his neighbourhood may not have had the privilege to be so content. The gloomy cold weather represents the harsh climate of Denmark but may also represent Lukas's past of being somewhat empty and dark without a lot of happiness. As the video ends it shows Lukas next to his dad. They both share an equal amount of the frame, their facial expression is similar as well. This suggests that they may share the same mindset and that Lukas has learnt to have the same outlook on life as his father. This final shot is so important to end on because it outlines the story Lukas shares with us throughout the song and via the music video, Lukas has left Christiania and is now living a more luxurious life, even now he still has time for his father which shows he is thankful and respectful. The music video itself serves as a timeline of events for Lukas. Towards the end of the video, it starts to show the finer things in life - a busy city skyline, friends, nice furniture etc. In this particular mid shot the focus is on the skyline with Lukas being out of focus. This may symbolise the dream he has had in mind whilst growing up in Christiania and now it has finally become a reality. Something that really springs to mind when I see this shot is that he city lights connoting hope.
"Company" is a song by Canadian singer Justin Bieber from his fourth studio album Purpose (2015 October). Lyrically, "Company" talks about looking forward to getting to know someone attractive, but also sets some healthy boundaries for doing so. The lyrics of the song mainly talk about Justin Bieber and a girl that he seems to fantasise about, maybe its a hidden message about his ex girlfriend Selena Gomez and he talks about how he doesn't want to be without her so he lyrically insinuates different scenarios for the two of them to be in. The Music Video itself is shot in so many different locations, a few include Greece and Iceland, there are snippets at certain points from his music video "I'll Show you", this was shot in Iceland. I would describe this music video of somewhat of a documentary concept in terms of how it comes across as some sort of journey in which Justin is traveling the world on his 'Purpose Tour'.
The video starts out with Bieber pensive, shirtless and downcast as he gazes over the calm waters of the Santorini basin and sits alone in the dark on a child’s swing.Later, the video also features footage from the Purpose World Tour, as well as clips of Bieber in the studio recording the album, and snippets of him on the set of his Calvin Klein photo shoot. Interspersed are sweeping images of Bieber looking out over nature, reminiscent of his earlier 'I’ll Show You' video."
In this screen shot at the beginning of the music video we see Justin on stage at one of his concerts. This shows how Justin is the Centre Piece of the video, as straight away the camera is focused on him. The Colours are dark but with a light green glow around Justin'n Body, this may symbolise how he is the shining light in the song and music video.
In this screen shot once again it shows how Justin is the centre of attention in the video, this time displaying a different setting, the colours are light which may represent the upbeat light heartedness of the song and about how he seem's to be reflecting off into the distance in this scene. This shot I don't believe dives very deep into the meaning behind the story of the video itself other than the fact that he may simply be reflecting on his life as he looks out into the distance.
I like this shot because you can see that the colours seem mild in this shot, but there are hints of lighter colours that stand out more such as his blue hat. Justin is alone at this point in the video, it symbolises his desire to be around people but he's currently reflecting on his life and things he needs to do in order to be around people again. In all of the shot's it seems like Justin is pretty much centralised in every single scene. This is because the video is his journey and he is the focus point.
For the first time in the music video there is two people in one shot. The shot is dark in colour but in the background of the sunset you can see the colours are colourful and that represents how Justin is happier and has began to find his way. When you watch a music video it is designed to engage the audience and immerse them into the experience of visualising the song. I think that Company's Music Video does that, even though there doesn't seem like a set story to the video, it is a journey that takes you along a path that Justin is on.
This shot for me is very cinematic, its a wide angel shot and just by looking at the surrounding it makes you think about how in the Video Justin is now having fun and enjoying himself and being more active. The colours of the Snow covered mountain Vally's give off a flat atmosphere and this collides with the fact that Justin is the only person on the mountain which makes you think he may still be alone even though he's not.
The music video ends in this scene where Justin is Centre stage at his concert interacting with the crowd. The colours in the shot are all dark but with vibrant lighting on stage and around Justin, this shows he is now happy and how he is the centre of attention and he's now getting the attention he's been asking for. You can see his body language is much more chilled and relaxed but with an essence of confidence.
Myself Jamal, Henry and Ben constructed a powerpoint presentation in order to visually get across our point of our idea. We presented the powerpoint to the rest of the class and asked for feedback regarding our idea.
This was a Parody of Nickleback's famous song "Rockstar" we wanted to take the same concept used for the original music video and twist it and recreate the lip syncing with people from within Shiplake College.
We wanted to get the opinions of the pupils in everett house, we chose people from a vast age range who would represent our potential audience. We filmed their reaction to the film opening in order to see if they were gripped, excited and most importantly if they enjoyed it and wanted to see more. We did this in order to understand how the audience may react when watching our final cut. To conclude the feedback we received was really positive and the reactions in the peoples faces were full of suspense which is good to see as it reflects our genre. When asked what was good about the opening scene, different people picked up on different things which suggests our film is consistent and not lacking in areas.
